Welcome

The Af Word is a celebratory (and sometimes badly behaved) extension of Mais Af. See The Af Word as a mildly opinionated little sister who gives you a mishmash of African art, design and fashion with some additional commentary in other areas too.
 

Central to the Mais Af eco-system is our desire to reclaim and redefine what Africa is; we do this by illuminating our focus on change makers in the creative scene, celebrating the various aspects of African life which stem from fashion, art and design.

Etymology:

Not exactly genius, but The Af Word a play on ‘The F word’, updated to ‘Af’ – (for Africa) and connects the ‘Af’ in Mais Af with the ‘Af’ in The Af Word

The Af Word celebrates a re-framed African narrative through exploring and sharing more of Africa’s talents with the rest of the world. We aim to encourage better conversations while also showcasing the dynamic states of Africa. We want to share with you the creatives (and creative pieces) that are made in Africa and are occasionally also sold on Mais Af.
